Roller shutter doors from Newcastle: 70 years of history
Established in 1946, we were originally known as Norman Hart Newcastle Limited and were based on the famous Scotswood Road.
In 1960 we moved to a new site in Westerhope on the outskirts of Newcastle.
This was the start of our transformation into the market-leading manufacturers of industrial roller shutters and doors we are today.
The evolution of Hart Door Systems
Whilst we initially manufactured awnings and sunblinds, the new site gave us the capacity to develop industrial roller shutter doors and security products.
This led to the creation of the ‘Hart Industrial Doors’ division in 1980.
We would eventually change our name to Hart Doors Systems in 1998, to reflect our evolving range of roller shutter doors and the expansion of our Newcastle site into a 12,000 square foot facility.
A family business for three generations
The Hart family has guided the company through its seven decades of transformation, establishing our long history of engineering and door experience.
The company was originally founded by Norman Hart, with Doug Hart taking over the business from his father in 1969.
In 2020, a third generation of the Hart family took the helm as Nick Hart took on the role of managing director.
