Conveyor fire shutters for baggage handling system

The challenge
Hart Door Systems was chosen by contractor Beumer Group UK Limited and Crisplant to integrate a series of fire shutters into the new baggage handling system within Gatwick Airport's £183.9 million redevelopment of the South Terminal Pier 1.

The solution
Hart developed and implemented six electrically-operated fire roller shutters with 60 min fire integrity barrier, compromising of a 6mm powder coated steel frame, intumescent seal for the return belt, sealing heavy angle brackets to infill expansion allowances and allow a flat face for the fire roller shutter to close on to. The two Crisbag conveyor fire roller shutters and four Crisbelt conveyor fire roller shutters were installed as part of the conveyor system at London Gatwick South Terminal Pier 1 redevelopment.
